HILLSCAPE (HILLSlope Chronosequence And Process Evolution)

HILLSlope Chronosequence And Process Evolution (HILLSCAPE) is a colaborative multidisciplinary research project of the University of Zurich, the University of Freiburg and the German Research Centre for Geosciences

The HILLSCAPE project focuses on the vertical and lateral redistribution of water and matter along hillslopes and how this redistribution affects and is affected by soil, vegetation and landscape development. The coevolution of these processes is a novel and challenging research field. The overall research question of the project is: How does the hillslope feedback cycle evolve in the first 10,000 years and how is this related to the evolution of hillslope structure, including plant cover?

21.2.2022 - A new Hillscape paper has been published in Geosciences.

18.1.2022 - Congratulations to Fabian for succesfully defending his PhD thesis Effects of soil and vegetation development on surface hydrological characteristics of moraines in the Swiss Alps!

15.12.2021 - Two new Hillscape papers have been published in Water Resources Research. One on overland flow and the other on subsurface flow.

11.9.2021 - A new Hillscape paper has been published in Plant and Soil.

10.5.2021 - A new paper by Anne is now open for discussion in HESS.

26.4.2021 - Congratulations to Konrad for succesfully defending his PhD thesis The effect of vegetation dynamics on hillslope functioning along proglacial chronosequences!!

4.4.2021 - Want to know more about the development of functional community structure on the Hillscape moraines? Another new Hillscape paper led by Konrad is now available online.

13.1.2021 - A new paper on the root distribution and biomass on the Hillscape moraines is now online. Congratulations Konrad!

25.6.2020 - The dataset describing soil physical and hydraulic properties of the soils at the Hillscape moraines, and related paper in ESSD, are now online.

25.6.2020 - It is a good week for Hillscape. The first paper from Anne is now available online as well. Congratulations Anne!

22.6.2020 - The second Hillscape paper from Alessandra is now online.

5.12.2019 - The second Hillscape paper got published. Congratulations Fabian!.

15.7.2019 - The first Hillscape paper got accepted. Congratulations Alessandra!.

8.7.2019 - Work at Klausenpass has started. We are looking forward to a new and exciting field season.
